What is the vision for the new Academy for Sheen?

’An Academy which helps students to make their best better and achieve world class learning outcomes by developing world class teachers in a world class community. ’The Academies Enterprise Trust (AET) will be working to promote an Academy which helps students to make their best better and achieve world class learning outcomes by developing world class teachers in a world class community.

The belief, as published in the White Paper 21st Century Schools, that schools are better placed to succeed by sharing success, working in partnership and by being self governing, is at the heart of this vision to provide a new Academy at Sheen.

It is intended that the strength and support of the wider Academies Enterprise Trust group of Academies will be used to significantly increase the momentum for improvement. Its experience of driving school improvement in areas where standards should be higher has enabled the AET to develop ways of working which help teachers transform learning.

Creative and innovative teaching will be used to raise achievement; a rich and demanding curriculum which combines the traditional and the new will meet the needs of all students; innovative practice will be introduced where it is known it can improve results; and raising self-esteem will encourage positive attitudes to learning.

Every student will have the opportunity to develop the skills to lead positive and fulfilling lives. This will mean the best possible education, as well as developing their life skills, so that;

students will have personalised learning plans developed in partnership with their parents and teachers

teachers will share best practice across the AET federation of Academies to provide greater choice of subjects for students and exciting career paths for themselves resources and administrative functions can be shared across the AET Academies so that unnecessary bureaucracies are avoided, releasing more money to be spent directly on students.
