16 students from our choir were invited by Baroness Kramer of Richmond Park and Robin Meltzer, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Richmond Park, to a private tour of the Houses of Parliament as a thank you to them for singing at Pembroke Lodge in the summer.

The students, who were all the soloist singers that had previously performed at the listed Georgian lodge in Richmond Park to parliamentarians and local dignitaries, were greeted by Mr Meltzer at Westminster Hall.

Robin Meltzer comments: “It was my absolute pleasure to meet with the Richmond Park Academy choir before their tour of Parliament. They are a fantastic group of talented and highly engaged young people. They are a real credit to Richmond, their school and their families.”

This was a great educational experience for the group of vocally gifted students, who had the chance to learn much more about thousands of years’ of history, modern day politics and see the stunning artwork and architecture in the House of Commons and House of Lords.

Beatrice Fairbairn, RPA’s Music Teacher who accompanied the students on the visit, added: “We have some exceptionally talented students at RPA and I could not be prouder of our choir, who all thoroughly enjoyed the visit to the Houses of Parliament. This was a wonderful learning experience for the students and we are very grateful to Baroness Kramer and Robin Meltzer for organising this opportunity for our students."
