George brings falconry to RPA

posted 4 Jul 2016, 02:21 by Michele Colt
Y7 and Y8 were treated to 45 minutes of falconry last Friday thanks to Y7's George R who had chosen falconry for his Jack Petchey prize. George was awarded the prize by his year group because he is consistently positive to his peers, hard working and a pleasure to be around for students and teachers alike.  Alan, from Surrey Falconry, brought a whole range of different birds with him including a bald eagle, a gyr falcon, a great grey owl, a tawny owl, a harris hawk, a sunda scops owl, a kookaburra and a boo book owl. Almost 2,000 schools, colleges and youth organisations throughout London and Essex run the Jack Petchey scheme, which is a reward and recognition initiative which enables schools and youth organisations to celebrate the achievements of their young people as well as receive additional funding.

Thank you for sharing the experience, George!
