Goals: Woodall, Heard (pen)
The Year 11 Football team earned their second draw in succession with a solid performance away at Christ’s on Thursday 18 October.
In testing conditions they started well; Leo scoring when a delicate clip over the defence from Sam released him to outpace the centre-half and slot home neatly. The hosts came into the match and dominated possession and territory, and were unlucky not to equalise when some smart build up play and lackadaisical defending from RPA saw three shots cannon off Yll’s woodwork in the space of a minute. Parity was rightfully restored when the Christ’s striker was played through to bury the ball in the bottom corner. Shortly after, the hosts took the lead with some nice football and some friendly marking, beating the offside trap and taking a 2-1 advantage into half time.
Some shoring up of positioning and a change of direction invigorated RPA, and they went on to dominate the second half, creating a host of chances which unfortunately weren’t capitalised on. The Christ’s ‘keeper also made a string of fine saves, but could do nothing about Sam’s cool spot kick which was awarded for handball. RPA threw the proverbial kitchen sink at Christ’s in the last ten minutes but the home goal led a charmed life, and the cliché that is “a game of two halves” ended in what was a pretty fair result!
Team: Yll, William, Tristan, Bailey, Michael, Faiswal, Airwan, Henry, Alex J, Sam, Leo, Aiden, Hamze
Thanks to Mr Chevous as always and the merry band of supporters (including Mr Animashaun) who came along to cheer!
