From over 20,000 nominations, our very own Jack Costello, who is part of Richmond Park Academy's Leadership Team and the Director of Performance Faculty, has been selected as a finalist for the prestigious Pearson Teaching Awards.

Mr Costello was nominated in the category for: ‘The Award for Teacher of the Year in a Secondary School’. He joins a list of exceptional teachers who are the stars of the education profession.

The Pearson Teaching Awards is open to every school in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.  The awards were established by Lord Puttnam CBE in 1999 and are managed by the Teaching Awards Trust, an independent charity. The Trust’s mission is to celebrate excellence in education.

We were visited by two judges from the Pearson Teaching Awards on Tuesday 1 April, who spent the morning observing Mr Costello and meeting and talking to our students, parents and staff. Following their visit we will find out if Mr Costello has been successful in winning  on ‘Thank a Teacher Day’, which is 16 May 2014.

We are exceptionally proud of all of our teachers at RPA and could not be more delighted for Mr Costello. For one of our teachers to be recognised in this way is testament to the high standards of teaching at our school.
