Secondment to RPA Leadership Team - announcement from Chair of Governors

posted 8 Jan 2016, 05:53 by Michele Colt
Happy New Year to you  - I hope you and your family had a restful break.
I'm emailing to let you know, following our announcement to staff this morning, that Mark Hartley, Headteacher of Barnes Primary School, is to be seconded to Richmond Park Academy as a Consultant Leader, and will be working with us 2-3 days per week from 18th January until the end of Summer Term 2016. During this time he will work alongside our Acting Principal Ms Tracey O'Brien and the rest of her leadership team to support our continued efforts to raise the attainment and drive forward the progress of RPA students.

The initiative is the result of a number of positive discussions that AET's Chief Executive Ian Comfort and I have had with Nick Whitfield, Director of Children's Services at Achieving For Children (on behalf of Richmond borough). It's our belief that Mark's experience as a Headteacher of two schools judged outstanding by Ofsted, and as a Local Authority School Improvement Advisor in both the primary and secondary education sector, will be invaluable to us in what is set to be a crucial year for our Academy. He will continue his work as Headteacher at Barnes when not working at RPA, and in his absence his Deputy Sue Jepson will be Acting Head there. I know you'll join me in welcoming Mr Hartley to the RPA  leadership team for these two terms.

Separately, we will in the coming weeks begin the process of recruiting a permanent Principal to replace Ms Kirby with that person joining us from September 2016.

Meanwhile I hope your child or children have an enjoyable and successful second term of 2015-16 at Richmond Park Academy.

Best wishes,
David Heath,  Chair of Governors
