CAMHS Transformation Meeting

posted 1 Jul 2014, 00:11 by Phil Broughton   [ updated 1 Jul 2014, 00:12 ]
This is an invitation to a meeting on the subject of the changes to CAMHS (Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services) which have been provided out of the Richmond Royal hospital in Kew.

There are changes on the way for CAMHS, both in terms of the services and the staff who provide them. For those families who have used the services from CAMHS (or who might do in the future), these changes are causing some concern and not least because the proposals are the result of an internal CAMHS review.

The meeting will be an open public forum which will provide an opportunity to ask questions about the proposed changes. Details are:

  • 10.00am - 11.30am Thursday 24 July at York House, TW1 3AA (in Clarendon Hall)

There will be presentations on the Transformation of CAMHS by:
  • Jeremy Walsh : Service Director, CAMHS South West London and St Georges Mental Health NHS Trust
  • Dr Diana Cassell : Consultant Psychiatrist and Clinical Director for CAMHS

This will be followed by an open Q&A session which I will facilitate. To help me manage the event (and the catering), please let me know if you are planning to come along.
In advance of the meeting, whether you are coming or not, it would be very helpful if you could also provide me with your questions either via e-mail or telephone. My aim is to ensure your questions are answered, and by providing these in advance we can ensure the presentation will be as useful as possible.

If you would like further information a link to National Guidance is here:

The guidance provides useful definitions of the Tiers of service (CAMHS operates from Tier 3) - go straight to page 50.

Following the meeting, I will aim to publish a full set of questions and answers by the end of July - if not it will be mid-August when I return from my family holiday. If there are any Next Steps, these will be published alongside. Jeremy and Diana have very kindly provided a statement on the transformation of CAMHS - please take the time to read this before the meeting (or before submitting questions).

As ever, any queries at all, please ask - and please feel free to circulate this invitation to anyone else who might be interested.

With best wishes
