Changes to the structure of A Levels

posted 18 Mar 2015, 04:31 by Phil Broughton   [ updated 20 Mar 2015, 03:04 ]

Up until the end of this year, our year 12 students study for three or four AS levels and are entered for the AS exams in the summer term. They then continue to study for the A2 in Year 13. Some stay with 4 courses, some drop one and take just three. The AS represents the first half of the A Level course.

Government changes have meant that AS courses have been decoupled from A level courses. Alongside this, different subjects start new courses over a three year period. To avoid making this confusing for students, parents and staff - we have decided to carry on with our current policy. Art is the exception as Year 12 work cannot be assessed for both the AS and the A level.
