Record applications for Richmond Park Academy places

posted 12 Mar 2014, 05:34 by Phil Broughton
Local parents have responded to the significant improvement in academic standards at Richmond Park Academy by applying for places at the school in record numbers.
Over 200 offers have gone out to pupils who placed RPA as one of their preferences for September 2014 entry. Given that the academy has a maximum of 180 places available in Year 7, parents are currently responding to the offers in order to guarantee a place for September. For parents/carers of students who have not been offered a place at RPA, and wish to be put on our waiting list, please email Penny Table ( with your child's name, primary school and contact details.

Simon Danciger, Chair of Governors, has welcomed the dramatic increase in applications. "What is most noticeable is that the overwhelming majority of applicants are from our local community, with over 95% from our most immediate SW13, SW14 & SW15 postcodes. Not only will September's Year 7 cohort be our largest for many years, it will also be our most local intake".

Meanwhile, applications for the academy's 6th form, which opens this September, are running at twice the level initially anticipated, reflecting not just the growing popularity of the school but also the benefits of a huge £10m buildings improvement, scheduled for completion in time for the 6th form opening.
