Year 7 and 8 students at the Borough Table Tennis Competition
On Wednesday 7 October a group of eager Year 7 and 8 boys travelled to Hampton School for the annual Borough Table Tennis Competition. The two teams had trained hard and were mature in their manner when warming up and sussing out their opponents. The two teams were drawn in different pools and encouraged each other in their matches.

The games were first to 11 and they played best of three sets with some epic close calls and amazing skill and tactics being used to edge ahead. The B team, comprised of four Year 7 students, played against Hampton School first, a tough game where the final result was 4-4; however we won this on set 14-13 which was a huge success of the boys and they all played with maturity, skill and sportsmanship throughout. The team then faced Christ's School where they absolutely dominated, each student won their game in two sets against their two opponents and clearly showed their hard work and training up to the event.

The A team also played against Hampton Boys and won this game where some of the games went to close nail-biting third sets. Also in the A team pool was a team from the recently opened Turing House School, again with ease and determination the boys played superb table tennis, utilising their opponents weaknesses and making some exceptional shots. As a consequence of this amazing show of skill it meant that both the A and B team came top of their pool, leading them to play off against each other for first and second position.

The students continued to play well with great effort and determination to the end and final third sets. The B team won and the As came a very close second in the final games. As a consequence the team moves on to represent Richmond in the South London competition. Watch this space….

Congratulations to the team; Joseph (7), Edward (7), Sam (7), Matthew (7), Cameron (7), Luke (8), Immanuel (8) and Freddie (8)
