Elementary, my dear Watson

The Year 10 team got their season off to a pleasing start with a 5-3 victory to progress to Round 2 of the ESFA National Cup on Monday 16 September.

After a shaky start that saw both teams trade goals and mistakes on a bobbly pitch, it turned out to be a fairly even contest with RPA’s ruthlessness in front of goal being the decisive factor. Corey put in a fantastic display, netting four of his sides goals and linking dangerously with the powerful running of Laquane which gave the visitors headaches throughout.

Ewell equalised for a second time midway through the first half after some slack defending and took the lead 3-2 just after the break. Corey scored his third almost immediately to equalise and Laquane and another Corey strike put the game beyond doubt. Nathan and Shane were impressive throughout, marshalling the troops at the back well and William and Owen also had strong games.
