A thrilling encounter was produced by two sides intent on attacking football on RPA's all weather pitch.

The home team got off to a slow start in what was their first 11-a-side fixture of the season. Just as RPA were managing to get a foothold in the game, Christ's hit us on the break after an RPA attack came to nothing and their pacy striker finished well in a one-on-one situation. Going a goal down spurred RPA into life and in particular Mason, who responded in typical fashion with two goals in three minutes to turn the game on its head. The first, a powerful finish from a tight angle and the second a low drive across the keeper into the far corner.

RPA were now dominating possession and playing some neat and tidy football through Nicolai, Ronni, Noah and Shakwarne. Freddie had a half chance at the near post from a cross by Mason but couldn't quite get it on target. Unfortunately RPA couldn't hold their lead into half time as Christ's again scored on the break with virtually the last kick of the first half.

Score at half time: 2-2.

Christ's used half time to regroup and came out with renewed vigour in the second half. RPA again started slowly, taking a while to get into any rhythm after some half time substitutions. RPA grabbed the lead again, Mason completing his hat-trick with a close range finish. However, RPA's lead was short lived, as Christ's scored two goals in quick succession, the first a well struck long range free kick and the second another smart finish in a one-on-one situation. RPA sprang back into life straight from kick off and nearly equalised through a long range effort from Ronni that struck the post, Nicolai's follow up trickled agonisingly along the goal line.

Mason capped a fine all round display with his fourth goal of the match, thumping the ball home to level the scores for the fifth time in a pulsating match. RPA were left exposed in defence one last time as Christ's went in search of a winner. They broke well down RPA's left hand side and squared the ball to their striker who was in acres of space to finish at the far post. Suspicions of offside were waved away and Christ's celebrated a smash and grab win. RPA were unlucky to lose a game in which they played arguably the better football, but as they say, its a funny old game.
