RPA made it two wins from two fixtures this week, as the Year 11s held off a late surge from Teddington to take the points in their season opener. Buoyed by the 30-10 drubbing that the Year 8/9 team inflicted on Orleans Park School on Tuesday the Year 11s seemed to have a mountain to climb as they had several key players missing from the line up.

Both teams started with a great deal of energy, perhaps a bit nervous after a long layoff. This lack of composure led to some early turnovers in a manic first few minutes. RPA took an early lead and although they dominated the rebounding at both ends, couldn't convert their advantage into a significant lead. Baskets from Nathan and Geordan gave some breathing space but Teddington answered with a triple and a quick lay-up which reduced the deficit to four at the half.

The second half showcased some excellent defence, especially by Nathan who was guarding Teddington's strongest player, and a series of emphatic rejections by Geordan who protected the rim brilliantly any time the opposition penetrated the key. Entering the final two minutes, Teddington had the chance to reduce the deficit to a single basket from the foul line but could only split the pair of free throws. RPA managed to hold on to secure a well deserved four point victory.
