An energetic and enthusiastic team graced Waldegrave School netball courts for the Year 9 netball tournament on Wednesday 15 October. The team played in the cold and wet against five other schools in quick eight-minute games. In these games the students did well to get themselves into a rhythm and work together as a team. The girls won three out of the five matches, winning one game 6-1, this was just over a goal a minute!
They beat Waldegrave B 3-1, Grey Court B 6-1 and Hampton Academy A 4-3. RPA lost to Teddington A and Orleans Park with little goal difference and fought really hard; Waldegrave A and Orleans Park then went on to win and came second respectively in the tournament. This was brilliant play from the girls with a positive professional attitude, I was very proud to be a teacher of our RPA students.
Well done to Sofia, Yasmin, Holly, Ella H, Maisie, Basmah, Ava D, Amelia, Jordan, Lucy and Tegan.
The Year 10 and 11 netball team played against Twickenham Academy on Thursday 16 October at home. They worked well in their preparation and warm up to ensure they were ready for the game. The first quarter showed some brilliant set plays and teamwork from all students where they communicated well and were winning 3-1. The second quarter presented challenges as the rain kicked in and the court and ball became slippery, RPA also seemed to be thrown by this change in the weather and started to lose focus; however they played well and at half time it was still 3-1.
After a re-focus and a shuffle of positions the third quarter saw some brilliant skills and options being given on every ball leading to a 5-2 result. The final quarter saw RPA extend the lead as they settled down into their positions and the game flowed brilliantly. The end result was a 9-4 win and all girls should be proud of their efforts and their attitude in the game.
Well Done to Kenny A, Jade M, Casey W, Erin H, Renae P-B, Jamie C, Ellie A.
