Thomas Tallis 1 RPA 2 (Tudor-Price, Oram)
Match report by Alex (Year 11)
After receiving a bye into Round 2, RPA kicked off their first ESFA National Cup game with an emphatic win against Thomas Tallis school on Monday. The team was Kallum, William, Fred, Jamie, Alex, Mason, Nemanja, George, Billy, Leo, Craig, Rasharn, Walid and Axel. The end result was 2-1 with a composed finish from Billy just outside the box after a risky clearance from the Tallis ‘keeper around the 25th minute. RPA dominated possession in the first half with some excellent chances and great build up play.
At the beginning of the second half RPA invited too much pressure and conceded a goal from a lovely lobbed shot, however the resilient RPA replied almost instantly with a lovely combination of passing leading to a tap in from George (although it’s debatable that Craig’s shot went in prior to the touch). Thomas Tallis were strong in the last 20 minutes of the second half, leaving the RPA defence under constant pressure, but the excellent performances and concentration of the Richmond players prevailed, and when the whistle blew the sense of achievement was astounding. Kallum had an amazing game, was very quick out of the box and made some crucial saves throughout the game, Jamie and Fred were as solid as always, William did brilliantly to get up and down the wing and Alex made some good tackles throughout. The attackers Billy, Mason, Nemanja, George and Leo all combined beautifully to string together some amazing chances, the chemistry between them all looked brilliant. Craig bossed the defenders and showed his brute strength and work ethic in the game, overall, everyone for Richmond was completely solid, and team moral couldn’t be higher for our Surrey cup game next Wednesday!
Come on RPA!!
