RPA got off to a slow start on what was an unforgiving surface which was a real examination of each player's technique. The first ten minutes was a very scrappy affair, playing down the slope, Christ's main weapon was the long ball, which is always difficult to defend in such conditions. Having handled these with great composure in the opening minutes, one moment of hesitation between Josh and Ahmad left Alban stranded and saw the hosts take the lead with the first clear cut chance of the game. This seemed to wake RPA up, and led by Qerim and Scott's energetic pressing of the ball, RPA began to dominate and struck back almost immediately through Tainton. RPA maintained a higher intensity, finishing the half on the front foot, but could not get the vital breakthrough.

The second half was a tense and nervous affair, as RPA dominated possession but found chances at a premium. Nick came on and made a difference in midfield but couldn't make the most of a close range header to break the deadlock. At the other end, the back four of Owen, Josh, Ahmad and Daniel were solid and when called into action Alban handled assuredly in goal.

Needing to win the game to qualify for the final, RPA went to three at the back, pushing Daniel into midfield and were rewarded immediately. Qerim and Kyron's pressing saw the ball drop to Tainton who swivelled and smashed a sweet volley true and hard into the far corner to take the lead with less than five minutes remaining. Christ's then forced a series of corners, which were very well defended, the last of which triggered a break that saw Qerim clear through on goal and he unselfishly squared the ball to give Tainton the easiest of tap-ins to secure his hat-trick and seal the victory and passage to the final!

The final will be played Thursday 23 April at Hampton and Richmond Football Club's ground, 4pm kick off. It would be great to see as many people there to support as possible!

Team: Alban, Yisrael, Owen, Daniel, Josh, Ahmad, Nick, Kyron, Tommy, Scott, Qerim, Mason, Tainton
