Report by Mr Costello

The RPA Year 12s emerged victorious from their first competitive 5-a-side tournament at Grey Court School yesterday as they managed to remain undefeated through their five matches. The afternoon got off to a shaky start when Bassi inexplicably shut the minibus door, locking the keys inside (I may have had a role to play in this too, but won't be admitting it). Luckily Mr Harrison was able to rush over with the spare key to spare our blushes and catch a game.

After a brief warm up match RPA started slowly against their first opponents and went a goal down early, but managed to pull it back to earn a point. They comfortably beat their next opponents with some strong play from Nemanja, Sam and Harvey and managed to beat the strongest opponents in the third match as Bassi and Will scored vital goals.

Jacob made some excellent saves in goal, but was embarrassed as some indecision with Harvey led to a pea-roller dribbling through his legs and into the net (which I had a good chuckle about). The final was a tight affair and Will scored the winner from the penalty spot after the Grey Court 'keeper had a brain explosion and tried to score from his own end, lifting the ball well above the allowed head height.

I look forward to upcoming fixtures in both football and basketball!
