The Year 11 team kicked off their Richmond League season with an impressive display to overcome a physical Teddington 3-0 at Palewell Common on Thursday 19 September. Fresh from a stimulating English lesson period 6, the team began brightly, with Freddie toiling well in midfield, harassing the Teddington playmakers and getting a foot in whenever an attack loomed. The back four were solid, with Jamie and Fred defending strongly and the only pressure that Teddington applied of any note was the result of overplaying at the back. Despite a few half chances neither goalkeeper had a significant save to make in the half.
RPA began to exert some pressure early in the second half and deservedly took the lead from a penalty awarded for handball. George stepped up and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to make it 1-0. The game went through a scrappy and quite physical phase and RPA stayed strong and gave as good as they got. They quelled the opposition’s aggression in the best manner as Craig latched on to a ball from midfield and unleashed a 25 yard piledriver in off the post to make it 2-0. A third followed shortly after a comical ricochet off Nemanja landed at Billy’s feet and he finished with aplomb. An excellent performance!
