Goals: Blayze, Owen, Laquane
Richmond Park Academy's Year 9 boys football team booked their place in the Borough Final following a convincing performance away to Orleans Park on Tuesday 6 November.
The game could not have started better. Within the first two minutes of play Laquane used all his strength to break past the Orleans Park defence and hit a magnificent by-line cross, which was matched by a stunning shot by Blayze which rocketed into the net to make it 1-0. Consequently, confidence was high in the RPA team and five minutes later they were granted a corner which Owen converted into a 2-0 lead, again hitting an astounding shot from just outside the goal area. Orleans Park showed great resilience and if it were not for the very solid defensive performance, could have easily levelled the score by half-time.
The start of the second half was almost a carbon copy of first, however RPA had to wait three minutes this time before they took a 3-0 lead, the scorer being Laquane. Despite the fact that the light was fading fast the RPA team spirit never diminished and in the end were worthy winners.
Congratulations to all concerned. Final to be played on Wednesday 14 November at Hampton & Richmond Borough's ground in Hampton.
