Traineeships and Apprenticeships
Traineeships prepare young people to become 'work ready' by offering valuable work experience and work preparation training that will enable young people to progress to an Apprenticeship or a job within a short timescale. Find your local traineeships here.

Apprenticeships are an excellent way of gaining qualifications and workplace experience. As an employee, you can earn as you learn and you gain practical skills from the workplace. For more information about Apprenticeships, go to the UK’s national apprenticeships website. If you are confused by the amount of information available, you can find an apprenticeship ambassador at the Apprenticeship Information Ambassador Network.

School Leaver Programmes

Some local and national employers offer training schemes or apprenticeships for young people leaving school and college.

School Leaver Programmes can be an alternative to pursuing a traditional university route.  Some offer apprenticeships, others offer “sponsored degrees” where you work, get paid and your employer pays for your degree, some offer to pay for training towards professional accreditation.  Some school leaver programmes also offer training and employment to students leaving school at age 16.  Deadline and dates vary according to the company, so check individual sites regularly.
